In December the Prime Minister announced plans to introduce a new qualification for post-16 education called the Advanced British Standard. It's aim is to bring together the best of A-levels and T-levels and intends to make maths and English compulsory to the age of 18. The government invited education providers and key stakeholders to have their say on the new framework and the Royal Statistical Society has made a case for the 'crucial role of statistical education in preparing students for an increasingly data-driven world'. I couldn't agree more! If we're going to make maths compulsory we need to take a look at the curriculum across the board and make sure we're properly equipping students for the future.
